Oil pastels

With in the next 2 weeks we are going to be using oil pastels. We as a class only have one set and I will bring mine from home but if your families have a set please bring them so our project will go faster. When students have to wait for materials out takes a long time to do an art project. Bring them starting this week and we can put your name on them and return them when we are finished.

Art materials

Reminder that art students need a white t-shirt for our last art project. Please bring them in.
Next week April 2nd  Please bring a picture of yourself. It should be an action picture of you doing something. Not a portrait. Bring several and we can help you decide.

More supplies

We need small spray bottles for a project. Travel size or larger. Not as large as spray cleaner bottles.

Art Second Semester

Thank you to everyone for getting to class on time. That has been a huge help. Keep it up you don't want to miss the next fun projects.

Well I'm excited about art this semester and I want your kids to be also. We are trying new things. which can be scary for them. "Learning to see like an artist"  is our theme.

Each week we are working on developing our drawing skills by doing Echo Drawings. These are fun designs that help the kids to notice more patterns, textures, shapes, sizes and colors. Then our class projects have helped develop those skills further. with fun things like startbursts of their names and optical illusions. we will be working on patterns and lines in the next few weeks then we will be doing Zentangle ( if you don't know what this is ,Google it)

Some things to look forward to would be the Eric Carle project, Seascapes and yarn paintings. After the projects are complete we are going to do something really awesome. To show off our art work we will make a T-shirt from one of our Art pieces. And of course an art show at the end of the year.

Donated Materials Needed For Art: 
blue painters tape (send whatever partial rolls you have lying around)
Magazines- to cut out pictures(needed by Feb 5th)
Scrap yarn
White T-shirt ( one for each student, for art piece transfers)

Last class Art bios

For our last class next week the students have been asked to come prepared to talk about their favorite artist. No stress on this, it is just a short project. We spent this semester learning about several artist and writing a short blurb about them. That was just practice for their art bios. They need to be short and sweet. A visual aid is always a nice touch. Also we will be setting up for the art show. At the end of the day next week please make sure all your art work is taken home.

week 6

This week we learned about Van Gogh. I saw some wonderful paintings with lots of color and texture.

Next week we will be trying out face painting ( perfect for up coming Halloween costumes)
so come with clean faces.
